In the early 2000s, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader and diplomat George J. Mitchell was publicly associated with Jeffrey Epstein and was identified in media reports as part of Epstein’s influential social circle. Epstein referred to Mitchell as a close acquaintance and supporter, while Mitchell acknowledged that Epstein had donated to charitable causes he was involved with. Correspondence later found among Epstein’s personal files — including a handwritten letter believed to be from Mitchell — further highlighted the degree of familiarity between the two men.
