125: Five Problems with Counting Calories for Weight Loss

You can count calories in, but you may be blocking them from “getting out.” Insulin blocks fat burning and if you’re eating foods or drinking beverages that constantly raise insulin, you are messaging your body to store fat and not to burn it. Things like artificial sweeteners and diet drinks may not have calories, but they can still raise insulin and signal your body to be in “storage mode.” Calorie counting can be helpful, but it’s not everything.
