Marc Andreessen, (the “a” in superstar VC firm a16z) made a return to form a few weeks ago with a piece called (all in caps, as if shouting) IT’S TIME TO BUILD. Written in the context of the world’s response to Covid-19, Andreessen, who traditionally looks at the world of software, explores how we should be looking at building more. More ventilators, ICU beds, and PPE. The post sparked a bunch of responses from people like Ezra Klein at Vox, and opened up a huge Twitter debate about building, VCs, capitalism, politics, inertia, and living in a vetocracy.
