The Melbourne Cup has long been described as the race that stops the nation but can the annual horse race still lay claim to that title today? From concerns over animal welfare to gambling, the popularity of the race has steadily declined. However, with around 90,000 people expected to attend the racecourse at Flemington on Tuesday race organisers are working on ways to keep the Cup relevant.
