Photojournalism was her first love and the reason she became a photographer. She followed her passion and became a photojournalist and editorial photographer from 1992-2006 before moving to large scale narrative tableau. TABLEAU: a group of models or motionless figures representing a scene from a story or history  In her work, she tackles common imagination and beliefs and creates images to promote critical thinking. She is most known for her series “Fallen Princesses“, created in 2007, depicting humanised Disney Princesses placed in realistic, modern scenarios. The idea behind the series was to challenge the ‘happily ever after' themes perpetuated by Disney. “When my first daughter Jordan was about two years old and obsessed with Disney Princesses, my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The realities and severe effects of Cancer contrasted greatly with the happily ever after endings and outdated messaging from Disney. The concept of disillusionment inspired me to explore more meaningful work. This changed my photographic practice from glossy editorials to complex staged photo tableaux.” Recently, she has released her 30-year photography archive, titled – XXX. In this interview, learn what it takes to generate an income and make a living by creating limited edition art prints that capture the eyes of art collectors and gallery curators.
