Raised in Stamford, Connecticut she graduated high school before pursuing an undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Rhode Island, but left after her junior year. In 2017, Owens became known in conservative circles before being hired as director of Urban engagement for Turning Point USA. After receiving positive feedback from President Donald Trump in 2018, Candace Owens went on to start the “Blexit movement”, a social campaign to encourage African Americans to abandon the Democratic Party and register as Republicans. The Conservative commentator has a new book out called “Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation’, which addresses how liberal ideals harm African Americans and hinder their ability to live the American Dream.
