La Voce di Thomas Young (1773-1829): Lo Scienziato della Decifrazione.

Medico, fisico ed egittologo, ma soprattutto uomo geniale in grado di eccellere praticamente in tutto, Thomas Young è stato una Voce fondamentale dell'Egittologia. Se è vero che la decifrazione dei geroglifici fu un traguardo epocale portato a casa dal celebre J. F. Champollion nel 1822 è altresì vero che Young fu degno avversario del francese in questa impresa. Infatti a lui si devono tutta una serie di osservazioni non solo corrette, ma anche indispensabili per sciogliere il plurisecolare mistero dei geroglifici (e del Demotico). Bibliografia: A.
