Ep 490 | LeBron James' I Promise School Fails Children, Needs More Fathers — Not Free Nikes
Fearless with Jason Whitlock - En podkast av Blaze Podcast Network

To no serious person’s surprise, LeBron James’ solution for the academic woes of at-risk Akron students is failing. According to the state of Ohio, no eighth-grade student at the school passed the state math test, and only 8% of the student body is reading at a proficient level for their grade. Are we shocked that throwing millions of dollars and free Nike swag to these kids didn’t solve the education problems plaguing the black community? Jason says even LeBron himself knows the true root of the issue. “Kids need dads more than free lunch, bicycles, school uniforms, Nike shoes, and affordable housing. No serious person denies this. LeBron doesn’t deny it.” James married his high school sweetheart and chose to live the lifestyle of the nuclear family, which was absent from his own childhood. Jason has a challenge for King James. “He should use his money, fame, and influence to promote marriage within the black community to which he proclaims allegiance.” Delano Squires and Steve Kim join “Fearless” to bring their perspective to the conversation. Plus, Steve discusses Aaron Rodgers' pointed words for Denver head coach Sean Payton, Brittney Griner’s mental health issues, and ESPN’s latest diversity, equity, and inclusion move to shoehorn Doris Burke into its NBA coverage.
